PERFORMANCES
The House on Mango
Street (March 23-April 10, 2011)
Based on Sandra
Cisneros’ book, this play tells the story of Esperanza,
a young girl coming of age in the Mexican barrio.
Adapted to the stage by Amy Ludwig, this performance is
a great compliment to Language Arts curriculum featuring
Latina and Latino authors.
Performed at the
Latino Cultural Center in Dallas.
RESIDENCIES
Write On! (Our
most popular residency!)
Students collaborate to develop a
play based on their own ideas, a piece of literature,
works of art, or Social Studies material. Write On!
meets Language Arts and Fine Arts TEKS. Children also
develop confidence, creativity and communication skills
by working together, writing, and developing original
performances.
This residency is available for day
classes and after-school programs. For grades 1-12.
Mask Making
for the Theater (New!)
Students create masks based
on research on cultural and theatrical masks from around
the world. In a highly structured curriculum, students
design their own personal mask and learn how to use it
for performance.

Searching
for the Six Flags of Texas (Our most popular
offering!)
Based on Social Studies TEKS
objectives for Texas History, Searching for the Six
Flags of Texas is a highly theatrical and entertaining
bilingual play that covers 500 years of history.
Students learn about the roles of Spain, France, Mexico,
the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy and the United
States in the story of Texas.
For grades 3-12.

Juana Inés:
The Child Who Loved To Read (New!)
This bilingual plays
tells the story of Mexican poetess Sor Juana Inés de la
Cruz, who lived in Mexico during the 1600’s when women
were discouraged from reading and writing. Through
perseverance, Sor Juana overcame many obstacles to
become the most celebrated poet in Mexico’s history.
Highly imaginative, using movement, puppets and audience
interaction, Juana Inés: The Child Who Loved To Read is
a great example to children of all ages.
For
grades 1-8. Available year-round.
The Wisdom
of Viejo Antonio (Great for Cultural
Heritage!)
A bilingual storytelling performance
that uncovers the mythology and culture of the ancient
Maya. Utilizing masks and live music, this show meets
TEKS objectives in Theater Arts, Music, History and
Cultural Heritage.
For grades 2-8. Available
year-round.
¡Payasos.Clown! (New!)
Click

nose! Through physical comedy and highly theatrical
sketches, students are acquainted with a classical form
of theater – the clown!
